I came back from Chicago with approximately zero dollars and something that feels like mono. Bring me good news.
I’ve been really digging the new EP from Natural Monuments. You can listen to four of the five tracks on their MySpace page. Somehow I’ve never seen these guys live, so now I’m even more excited for the Thunderbirds Are Now! show later this month that they’re part of.
I do have an issue with one of the songs — “Alex Phelge”. If you listen to the song, the chorus contains a line that goes “I’m looking through the glass at Alex Phelge”. Now, “Phelge” sounds a lot like “feltch,” so I hear “I’m looking through the glass at Alex feltch” and I have this mental picture of a peeping tom looking through Alex’s bedroom window to watch him feltch his boyfriend. So the song is pretty much hilarious to me. Try your best not to hear “feltch” when you listen to that song now. You’re welcome.
